What I Have Been Up To

I have been busy for the last month, I got a promotion at the warehouse and I got a new camera!

I am now the Backup Lead of General Labor at the warehouse. It is kind of different being on this side of the job, I no longer have to unload trucks. I do have to drive a stand up forklift which I wasn’t thrilled about it at first, ( I sucked at driving the first time I did it last year) but I am getting better. I pretty much walk or drive around making sure everyone stays on tasks and then gave pallets and other stuff when needed. I can also get 40 hours by helping out by doing stuff once the GLs (General Labor) are gone.

My new camera is a Nikon D40, I am still trying to understand all the settings as I have only had a point and shoot camera up til now. I am getting better and if it ever stops raining I plan on taking more pics.

Seriously, Seriously, Are You Freaking Kidding?

So it has been about three months since I last posted about work in Please come to my Office… Well it was ok until earlier this month when the parking attendants totally blew parking one of the lots and I just knew it would bite me in the ass then to add gas to that fire. I got into a argument with a cashier after I talked to him about moving a sign after I told him not to. Which somehow blew up into him ranting about how I was picking on him and he was feed-up with it (which had me standing there with my mouth open in shock). So then comes break time and surprise one of the other supervisors get called in the office for a talking too, then one of my parking attendants gets pulled into the office for a talking to also. From what they told me it was a cross between a lecture and been asked questions about certain situations all involving ME! So I am about 50/50 with the idea that I am being set up to be fired and used as the “Reason” why everything at work has been going wrong. So I decided I until they have the balls to say anything to me I will simply go to work and only enteract with other people when I have to otherwise I will keep my mouth shut. We will see what happens.

Please Come To My Office. . .

Well as I walked into working on Saturday, I got a lecture about the Parking attendant braking the brand new flashlight. Then, right after walking around the corner I got the same lecture from another manager and at that moment I remembered that clip from office space where he talks about having no motivation because he has to hear it from 8 different managers. On top of that I got the lecture two more times because they found more broken flashlights.

Several hours pass and I am on the receiving end of another wonderful lecture about how I need to train the crew better (It is parking cars, not rocket science). I have pretty much come to the answer at no matter what I do I will received a lecture for something. Why you ask? It is simple I am the laid back, lazy, easy going supervisor and the other supervisor is a over the top control freak. If I have the crew do stuff for themselves I am blowing off my responsibilities, if I do it all myself I am not training them to do it (yes, seriously I have received both of those lectures). You can’t yell at the other supervisor she would crack, so it must be me that is the problem.

I am the first one to admit I am lazy and lack motivation. I learned a long time ago that if you show the ability to do hard work you will be rewarded with more hard work. So why would I want to smart kid in class when it gets you more homework or get stuck working all the graveyard shifts at work (been there, done that).

So, I gather all the crew together and give them the same lectures I have received over the whole week. Now to see if it will stick until the next event.

A Day In The Life Of. . .

Well, I got a .50 cent raise at my dome job, but I am going crazy at my full-time job. I am suppose to be on the day shift training to use the stand-up forklift, the problem with that is that their version of training is to give me a test and ignore me for the rest of the week with the only instructions being “to practice in the racks”. Seriously, how is this training I could have stayed on the swing shift and practiced at the slow times. I did end up taking off after about after 45 minutes day because I was feeling sick. Hopefully I will be feeling better tomorrow.

Oh, Come On That Was Funny!

This is a conversation I had with a guy walking up to buy a parking permit at work.

Me: Company Name?

Guy: All-City Door.

Me: Doors?

Guy: No, “door” singular. We only sale one type of door.

Me: And you sale that door to All the City?

Guy: … Don’t quit your day job…

MMMM….Bacon

I worked an event yesterday called the Bacon Bowl, which is basically where a bunch of cops get together and have a charity football game. They said to expect about 2,000 - 3,000 well I didn’t see that many people (not even close).
