Please Come To My Office. . .

Well as I walked into working on Saturday, I got a lecture about the Parking attendant braking the brand new flashlight. Then, right after walking around the corner I got the same lecture from another manager and at that moment I remembered that clip from office space where he talks about having no motivation because he has to hear it from 8 different managers. On top of that I got the lecture two more times because they found more broken flashlights.

Several hours pass and I am on the receiving end of another wonderful lecture about how I need to train the crew better (It is parking cars, not rocket science). I have pretty much come to the answer at no matter what I do I will received a lecture for something. Why you ask? It is simple I am the laid back, lazy, easy going supervisor and the other supervisor is a over the top control freak. If I have the crew do stuff for themselves I am blowing off my responsibilities, if I do it all myself I am not training them to do it (yes, seriously I have received both of those lectures). You can’t yell at the other supervisor she would crack, so it must be me that is the problem.

I am the first one to admit I am lazy and lack motivation. I learned a long time ago that if you show the ability to do hard work you will be rewarded with more hard work. So why would I want to smart kid in class when it gets you more homework or get stuck working all the graveyard shifts at work (been there, done that).

So, I gather all the crew together and give them the same lectures I have received over the whole week. Now to see if it will stick until the next event.
